Open the Documents application on your iPad.ģ. There are other apps that accomplish the same or similar purposes, but they are either obnoxiously ad-supported or offer fewer features.ġ. The app we will be using primarily is Documents, produced by well-respected iOS app developer Readdle. If you don’t have a server, or access to a server, you won’t be able to use any of these tips. It can be as simple as a Mac with File Sharing turned on. All these tips are also compatible with other iOS devices, including iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches.Īlso, we’ll be assuming that you have a server set up on your network already. Not unexpectedly, it comes through an app download.

It’s not too hard to get that capability, though. Macs are, but iOS devices don’t have that capability out of the box.

There is a little bit of a quirk here, in that the iPad is not natively equipped for accessing resources on a local network. The tags also appear in a smart way, because only the ones that have values are displayed in each navigation step/view you do.If you have a home server set up, it should seem like accessing files on that server should be simple.

I believe you will be happy because lumin takes full use of all tags you setup on minim. These metadata tags are stored in all my FLAC files (my custom Work tag actually occupies the Album display slot on BubbleUPnP via tag remapping in MinimServer). Lumin app is free and works very well with minimserver. What solutions have others here found to work well with MinimServer? This does everything I need for classical music, with the one exception that BubbleUPnP is only available for the Android platform. This PC is connected to the asynch USB input on my Oppo BDP-105, which is the only way at present to make the Oppo provide gapless playback via the network.

I use BubbleUPnP on my Samsung smart phone to direct the files to JRiver Media Center on my Windows PC (acting as a DLNA player). My current solution for streaming music files from my Synology NAS is based on a combination of MinimServer and BubbleUPnP.
